Child Rearing

Child Rearing

I know that child rearing is not easy but I can’t stress how important it is to teach your children early the importance of following Biblical principles.  Please don’t take this lightly! It seems the older they get, peer pressure seems to be more prevalent and it is very challenging for them to make the right decisions when they haven’t been taught Biblical principles early. Following God’s will should also be done on a consistent basis and not just on Sundays. It becomes much easier when they are living this kind of life especially when parents demonstrate these Godly principles as well.

For a parent, it makes raising children into young adults less worrisome because you trust your children to make wise choices which in turn will bring much more joy into your lives. Besides attending church services, I’ve also found that reading the Bible and praying with your spouse and children helps bring the family closer.  It is very comforting and helps form good Christian habits.

It sometimes can become devastating to the children and the family, if the children have never been taught these Godly principals or have drifted away from them. The Bible stresses the importance of discipline in child rearing.   It is much more likely for them to get caught up in awful situations or lifestyle if parents just let their children be spoiled and not discipline them with the wisdom of what the Bible teaches.  It is very dangerous to slip away from this even for a short while.

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”  Ephesians 6:1-3

Unfortunately, the devil likes for all people young or old, to backslide and abstain from obeying God and living for Him.  I wouldn’t want to risk my child being tempted by something bad that might change their life and possibly end up with devastating consequences, would you?

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Discipline should always be done lovingly. Speak to them about how God loves them and is always with them. Be sure they understand that when they do God’s will, they will always be rewarded by Him.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Christian books for children with morals inspire them and are great way to get them started on the right path early.  These books are written similarly to a typical day in a child’s life and with colorful illustrations making this a very fun read and learning experience.
