How your Dreams can be Fulfilled in the New Year

So it’s a brand new year! How many of us say that it’s going to be a better year than the last one? Well it seems most of us say this every year. Positive thinking, planning and resolutions are good, but how about really experiencing a better year for real?

I am currently writing a book about accountability to God. I believe that this makes a key difference in our life. We know what God can do for us, but it takes effort to maintain our connection to Him and not just relying on ourselves.

If we continue to try and do everything by our own effort, we will never experience total satisfaction. Striving and consistent working toward our goals tend to drag us down physically and mentally. This constant striving can sometimes cause worry and doubt.

God never intended for us to live this way. It is not God’s will for us to do it all ourselves. I know that it can be quite uncomfortable or maybe even a little frightening to let God take priority over our needs when we have always done this. There is nothing wrong with having goals and working toward them, but it is never okay to let it consume our lives.

When we leave our wants, needs and desires up to Him, he guides us to the perfect plan in our life. It sometimes may seem like an unobtainable goal. Patience is often needed before we see it to fruition.

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)

When we pray to God for guidance and are willing to take the time to be accountable to Him consistently, we can expect the best outcome. It may be something that we could have never have imagined, or ever hoped for.

Being held accountable by doing His will, including praying for His guidance each day and reading the Word, we will see positive results. God loves us and has supernatural powers that are readily available to us through the Holy Spirit.

Not everyone can have access to His power unless we confess our sins to Him and believe that His son Jesus Christ gave His life for us. When we believe this and Jesus’ resurrection, we can live in peace with Him for eternity.

So if we want more out of this year than what we’ve experienced in the past, why not give God a chance to work out an amazing year filled with His promises and desires for our life.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
