Why is it hurting America more than we Realize?
Election hate of 2016 is still occurring after the election of our new President Donald Trump. Some of us are very happy over the results and others are continuing to exhibit hate. Some individuals that clearly are not happy with the election results have resorted to hate crimes which are devastating.
A close friend believes that possibly all of these demonstrations and negative activity may have nothing to do with President Trump personally. They may just want to spread hate and destruction to call attention to themselves because their candidate lost? Time and time again, the media unfairly broadcasts it wide and far, even if it’s just a few incidents.
Individuals who expect that the news should be accurate are mostly misinformed and the hate and negativity just keeps on growing because it’s being pushed on Americans. The popular media itself is still very incorrect or one-sided in their reporting of the newly elected president and other instances at times. I don’t recall many things that they broadcast that are deemed positive or supportive of President Trump. This reporting is sparking more doubt and fueling even more election hate across the nation. This is causing division and not the unity that America needs!
We all need to respect our president even if he happens to be not some individuals’ choice.
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Hebrews 13:17
Hatred is also a bad thing to carry in your heart:
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. Proverbs 10:12
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
Hate is naturally a part of our human nature and sometimes shows in all of us. As a Christian, I like to keep that negative feeling out of my life as much as I can. Knowing God is love and not hate, I feel remorse when I act out in anger. I may sometimes take a while to ask for forgiveness because I‘m a sinful human! But asking for forgiveness allows a great sense of relief and well-being that comes over me.
It’s almost impossible to stop feelings of hate without the Holy Spirit that born-again Christians have. The Holy Spirit is the helper that God gave me when I accepted Jesus into my heart. When He intervenes in these times, there is a tapping into my heart when the desire to hate rears its ugly head. He reminds me of “love” instead and my feelings of hate more easily turn to a positive, loving direction.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Whether it is “Election hate” or everyday hate, this nation needs a lot more Godliness and love, and a lot less hate to flourish.
