How New Years Resolutions Can be Fulfilled

new years resolutions

Each year after Christmas, like most people I tend to make new years resolutions.  New years resolutions are good, but I don’t think I can fully achieve mine unless I have God’s help.  I’ve discovered that my will power is not enough!

Every year I have wanted to lose weight, make more money, have a closer relationship with the Lord and with loved ones.  It seems I start out looking forward to this, and then I must remind myself that even though these things are so important to me, they are nothing unless God is guiding me.

I must stop and listen to His direction for me in His timing.  It’s sometimes so hard to have patience for things that I have been desiring to have or do for so long.  The only thing that gets me through is thinking of previous occurrences when I had patience and trusted in the Lord for these desires.  When I did this, they were completely met and so much more than I had expected.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33.

I sometimes feel that praying for money is wrong, but God loves for us to be prosperous.  He just doesn’t want us dedicating all our thoughts and actions into this.  I struggle with letting go and let God handle this for me.  It’s because I keep thinking I need to be doing something to make this occur and then it always takes up too much time and I feel that I am getting nowhere.

I do find that when I write in my blog and concentrate on His word, money takes a back seat to my priorities. Then it seems like there is always enough to cover what is needed, or more comes from unexpected sources.  I have learned to stop and believe that he is working on what I really need right now.  His will and timing is always worth the wait.

In order to get God’s best plan, or our new years resolutions fulfilled we know that being thankful, praying and waiting for the just the right opportunity or solution to show is best.  When we stop worrying about these things, then we are free and we can finally be surrounded by His blessings.

We’re not alone to try to figure everything out, He is there with us everyday and knows our every need and desire. New years resolutions can be fulfilled and even if they are not exactly what we asked for, they will always contain abundant blessings when we pray and follow His word.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Joshua 1:8

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
